WHY DID HE DO THIS!

WHY DID HE DO THIS!

A client of mine a few years ago was doing well on his weight loss journey, so well that he was 20 kilograms down with about 10 kilograms left to go. He came in at around 90 kilograms and was just about to hit the 70 kilograms mark.

He was doing everything that I was telling him to do... hence why he lost so much weight in this 9 month period. And before we go any further, this guy was 5’6 and wasn’t a tall guy. He was heavy for his height, and to lose all that weight was a big achievement.

We had a sustainable method down and he was crushing each kilogram one at a time. This method was super sustainable and didn’t take up a whole lot of time either. But he fell into a hole that we all fall into the first time we get in to shape...

The self development hole.

He started coming in hyper motivated, which is great until you lose sight of what’s really important. I liked his mindset around his new found love for the gym but I was worried about the hours he was spending on the treadmill.

Yeah that’s right... hours.

“All of this cardio is going to send your cravings into a spiral, you must keep to what were doing before. It was working!” I said million times.

We had debates each week as was falling off track and gaining weight but he was obsessed with doing things HIS way. The HARD way. He refused to stop doing hour and half long treadmill sessions.

Anyway he gained around 5kg back and ended up yo-yoing until he ended up moving away for work.

Don’t get me wrong he’s a lovely guy and we always maintained a great relationship even when we disagreed on how he was managing his fitness. He knew I was right...

He even said that multiple times.

The issue was he wanted the result INSTANTLY.

He knew my method was the easiest and most sustainable route but it would take another 3 or 4 months. But he wanted the result NOW.

The lesson from this to stick to what is working and not to try and find the new shiny method that the world presents to you.

You’re in this fitness game for the long run, it’s not a quick fix.

Your weight loss transformation is simply the start of your journey, once that’s done...you keep going.

You find systems that allow you to stay on track with your nutrition, training and lifestyle.

This is why constantly keeping an eye on how far away you are from the end goal is pointless.

F**K THAT... Get married to the daily activities that keep you in great shape and health and make this a forever thing!
